On Thursday, July 21, Accessity and Saffron & Sage will host an online webinar from 11 a.m. to noon to discuss mental health, wellness, and burnout while navigating entrepreneurship, explore common mental health challenges and demonstrate how small business owners can use different self-care strategies to cope when overwhelmed. The Navigating Mental Health & Entrepreneurship event is a free webinar to facilitate important solution-focused conversations to help entrepreneurs prioritize their mental health while running a successful business.
Research has shown that a disproportionate number of entrepreneurs struggle with mental health challenges. According to UC Berkeley, 72% of entrepreneurs have some kind of mental health issue such as depression, ADHD, substance abuse issues or bipolar disorder.
“There’s a lot going on in the world right now, and people are struggling to cope with these uncertain times,” stated Accessity CEO Elizabeth Schott. “Even though we are a nonprofit business lender, it’s our mission to provide a community of support and resources to entrepreneurs. We are so excited to partner with Accessity-funded business Saffron & Sage to provide this timely and relevant information to small business owners.”
Cristin Smith, Spiritual Director, Founder and CEO at Saffron & Sage, will be accompanied by Dr. Hilda Gonzalez, Clinic Director and Holistic Healthcare Provider of Saffron & Sage; and Vanessa Mergulhao, Lead Acupuncturist, Herbalist and Hypnotherapist at Saffron & Sage.
During the stimulating conversation, attendees will:
Hear first-hand about common issues faced by entrepreneurs,
Be able to recognize the signs of stress and anxiety to overcome burnout while running a business, and;
Take away self-care techniques, resources and additional support to cope when feeling overwhelmed.
The webinar will also feature a testimonial from Scout Sobel, CEO of Scout’s Agency, the author of The Emotional Entrepreneur and the co-host of the popular Okay Sis podcast to share her struggles with mental health issues and bipolar disorder while navigating entrepreneurship.
Once unable to function in society, she found entrepreneurship, took radical responsibility over her emotions, and she is now able to live a life of purpose. Her debut book The Emotional Entrepreneur provides the mindset and emotional tools she learned from managing her mental illness that have helped her succeed in business.
“Mental health is one of the most important things that entrepreneurs can focus on when starting or growing a business,” said Saffron & Sage’s Founder & CEO Cristin Smith. “I know first-hand that it can be extremely stressful so I’m looking forward to sharing my personal journey and how we have been able to help people through holistic healthcare.”
