This policy covers every service we sell. Find the section that applies to your purchase. If you have a question that is not answered here, contact us at mary@sb-american.com or 909-889-7677.

Community Sponsorships

Sponsorships are sold on a monthly recurring basis and continue until you cancel.

Cancelling. You may cancel at any time by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you are currently in, and you will not be charged again.
The current month. We do not refund a month that has already begun. Your placements run for the remainder of that period.
If we have not delivered. If a placement you paid for did not run because of an error on our side, tell us and we will either run it in the next available cycle or refund that month, whichever you prefer.
Charged in error. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us within 30 days and we will review it and refund if we agree.
Failed payments. If a monthly payment fails, we may pause your placements until payment is resolved. We will contact you before doing so.

Print advertising

Cancelling. Space closes the Friday before the print date. Cancelling within 7 days of the print date incurs a 50% cancellation fee, because the space has already been held and the page planned.
After publication. Once an ad has run, the fee is fully earned and is not refundable.
Our error. If we publish your ad incorrectly, we will republish it correctly at no charge in the next edition. Where a significant error made the ad ineffective, we may credit the amount paid toward a future insertion.
Materials not supplied. If we do not receive your materials by the deadline and the ad cannot run, the fee is not refundable.

Subscriptions

Print subscriptions may be cancelled at any time. We will refund the unused portion, calculated from the next unmailed issue.
Issues already mailed are not refundable.

Donations

Donations support our newsroom and are not refundable. If you made a donation in error, contact us within 14 days and we will review it.

Legal and public notices

Notices are published as submitted, and you are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide. Review your notice carefully before submitting.

Before publication. Cancellations must be requested in writing. If we receive the request before the publication date, we may issue a partial refund, minus administrative costs already incurred.
After publication. Once a notice has published, no refund is issued. Publication is a one-time service and the fee is fully earned on publication.
Our error. If we publish a notice incorrectly because of our error, we will republish it correctly at no additional cost. This is our full responsibility for a publishing error.
Your error. If a notice must be republished because of information you supplied incorrectly, the republication is charged at the normal rate.

Fictitious Business Name filings

In addition to the terms above, the following apply to Fictitious Business Name (DBA) filings:

Application fees. The application fee is non-refundable. It covers the administrative cost of processing the filing request.
Errors and corrections. If an error in the published filing was ours, we correct it at no cost. Refunds are not provided in these cases.
Cancellation and withdrawal. Requests must be in writing. If received before the publication date, we may issue a partial refund, minus administrative fees and expenses already incurred.
Expedited processing. Refund requests for expedited processing fees are considered case by case, depending on whether the service has been completed.
After publication. Once published, no refund is issued.

How to request a refund

Email mary@sb-american.com with your name, the service you purchased, the date of payment, and a short explanation. We may ask for additional information.

Approved refunds are processed within 5 business days and returned to the original payment method.

Changes to this policy

We may modify this policy at any time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. Changes do not affect a purchase already made.
