Celebrating the Life Of John Andrew Funderburk

John Andrew Funderburk was born on June 23, 1944 in Chesterfield, South Carolina to Andrew Cecil Funderburk and Eloise Burch-Funderburk. John was the oldest child from their union. John resided in Rialto, California for over 30 years.
John attended Gary High School in Chesterfield, South Carolina. After high school, John joined the United States Army in 1962 where he was decorated with a Good Conduct Medal, a Parachute Badge and an Expert Rifle and Marksman Badge. He was honorably discharged in 1965. John later joined the United States Postal Service as a Postal Carrier and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff where he spent most of his time at the Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center. John was blessed to enjoy retirement and spend time with his family and close friends after 26 years of law enforcement service. He officially retired in 2003.
John married Betty Jean Johnson in 1967 and remained married for a substantial portion of his early life. John had four children – Terence L. McGee, Courtney McGee, Regina Funderburk and Gary Smith. He also had seven siblings – Maggie Funderburk, Richard Funderburk, Sally Funderburk, David Funderburk Robin Funderburk, Andrew Funderburk Jr. and Octavia Funderburk.
John entered into eternal rest on November 9, 2018. John is preceded in passing by his father, Andrew and his mother, Eloise. He is also preceded by his son, Terence McGee; his sister, Maggie and his brothers; Richard, David and Andrew. John leaves behind children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends who misses him dearly.
Memorial Services will begin at 1:30 on November 21, 2018 at the Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92518.
