RIVERSIDE, CA – The Adrian Dell and Carmen Roberts Foundation will host its 5th annual golf tournament fundraiser Monday, November 9, at the Victoria Club in Riverside. The event will run from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We invite the community to play for a purpose,” said Dell Roberts, the foundation’s president. “This tournament brings together golfers, sponsors and donors who are passionate about empowering citizens of the Inland Empire through cultural activities, education and expanded economic opportunities.”

According to David Taylor, the golf tournament chairperson, the event aims to raise money for the Empowering Young Women Conference.

He said the event provides an opportunity for civic-minded people to play for a purpose, which is also the theme of this year’s tournament.

“One person’s not going to change everything, but if each person does their part, it’s a cumulative effect that makes a difference,” Taylor said. He has been involved with the golf tournament for the past five years because of his close relationship with the Roberts family.

He said the event typically draws about 100 players, with proceeds funding events that empower young women.

Taylor takes this role seriously as the father of a daughter.

“I have a daughter who’s 15, and so I understand the importance of having a village to raise a child and giving her the development, the leadership development, but also the emotional and mental development that she needs,” Taylor said.

Taylor also emphasized the importance of supporting Black women.

“I think that women in large, particularly Black women, are underrepresented and not well supported. And so any time that we can produce funding to go towards something like that as a purpose and as a cause, it’s really important to help make a difference for women,” he said.

Taylor said he hopes participants understand that the tournament is about more than playing golf.

“Hopefully if people come out to the tournament, they’re not just having a good time, but they’re also feeling good about the fact that the money spent is going towards helping our community be stronger,” Taylor said.

The event is sponsored by the Adrian Dell and Carmen Roberts Foundation, Riverside City College (RCC), Aaron Ford Dealership, Mercedes-Benz and Farmer Boys.

“RCC is our community champion sponsor, and we’re extremely grateful for their large contribution. And it works so well that they are the community sponsor because they’re such an institution and big part of our community in Riverside,” Taylor said.

RCC said it was happy to support a worthy cause.

“At Riverside City College, we believe education is more than what happens in the classroom. It is about creating opportunities, building meaningful connections and strengthening the communities we serve. Our partnership with the Adrian Dell & Carmen Roberts Foundation reflects a shared commitment to uplifting individuals and ensuring that opportunity is not limited by circumstance. When organizations come together with a common purpose, we can expand our collective impact, celebrate the strengths of our community and create pathways for future generations to thrive,” according to a statement from RCC.

Aaron Ford Dealership and Mercedes-Benz have each donated a car to be awarded as a hole-in-one prize.

Roberts said the event has previously attracted local dignitaries, including state Sen. Sabrina Cervantes and U.S. Rep. Mark Takano.
