Rancho Cucamonga, California – The City of Rancho Cucamonga has opened the candidate filing period for the November 3, 2026, General Municipal Election. The election includes two Council Member seats voted by district: Districts 2 and 3, as well as the office of Mayor, which is elected at large.
Prospective candidates may obtain nomination papers and candidate filing information by appointment with the City Clerk Services Director. The nomination period closes Friday, August 7, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. If a current officeholder does not file by the August 7 deadline, the nomination period for that office will be extended through Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 4:30 p.m.
During the candidate filing period, prospective candidates must file their Declaration of Candidacy and nomination paperwork. Appointments to receive and file nomination papers are highly encouraged.
Rancho Cucamonga City Council Members are elected by district, with only voters residing within each district voting for the City Council Member who will represent their district. The Mayor is elected at large. Each office serves a four-year term, and there are no term limits.
The City contracts with the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters to conduct its elections. The November 3, 2026, General Municipal Election will be consolidated with the statewide general election.
