Anyone 18 or younger can ride free on RTA buses through June 30, 2027
WHAT: As Riverside County schools begin summer break, the Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) continues to offer free bus rides for youth. The “Youth Ride Free” promotion is available to anyone 18 or younger and runs through June 30, 2027.
Youth riders may board RTA’s fixed-route and GoMicro buses anywhere and anytime they operate by showing a valid RTA Youth ID, school ID or other proof of age when boarding.
RTA also offers unlimited rides to students participating in the U-Pass or Go-Pass programs. College students attending Cal Baptist University, La Sierra University, Moreno Valley College, Mt. San Jacinto College, Norco College, Riverside City College and UC Riverside can enjoy unlimited rides on RTA buses using the GoMobile app.
For assistance with trip planning, contact RTA’s Customer Information Center at 951.565.5002 or visit RiversideTransit.com.
WHEN: The Youth Ride Free program is available through June 30, 2027. College students whose schools participate in the Go-Pass or U-Pass programs can enjoy unlimited rides for as long as their school is part of the program.
WHERE: All RTA local and GoMicro buses serving western Riverside County, as well as CommuterLink Express routes serving Riverside, Orange and San Bernardino counties.
WHY: Providing free rides makes public transportation more accessible for youth and connects them to education, recreation and employment opportunities safely and affordably. The program reflects RTA’s ongoing commitment to supporting local families and encouraging lifelong public transit use.
BACKGROUND: At May’s board meeting, RTA’s Board of Directors unanimously approved an extension of the Youth Ride Free program, making it available through June 30, 2027.
