Following a highly successful debut, the San Bernardino County Library (SBCL) Highland Branch Farmers Market is set to continue as a weekly event, bringing fresh produce, local vendors, and community engagement to residents every Wednesday from 2 to 7 p.m.
Launched in partnership with the California Farmers Market Collective (CFMC), the market has quickly established itself as a vibrant hub where fresh food and community connection meet. The inaugural event drew strong attendance and enthusiastic participation, underscoring the demand for accessible, locally sourced goods and shared public spaces in the Highland community.
Held at the Highland Branch Library, the weekly market features a curated lineup of regional farmers, artisans, and food vendors. Guests can enjoy offerings from favorites such as Bon Jour Yogurt, Native Farms Hummus, Nicky’s Pizza, Grateful Dough Sourdough, Good Juju Coffee, and Great Day Farms, alongside a rotating selection of seasonal fruits, vegetables, and handcrafted products.
Importantly, the market accepts SNAP/EBT benefits, helping ensure that all community members have access to fresh, nutritious food options.
“This is more than just a market—it’s a gathering place,” said Branch Manager Sarah Bartlett. “We’re proud to see such a strong response from the community and look forward to continuing this partnership to provide both fresh food and valuable library resources in one welcoming space.”
The grand opening also introduced a unique incentive program encouraging library use: patrons who check out 15 items receive a ticket redeemable for a custom tote bag—perfect for carrying both books and market finds. The program has already generated excitement among attendees and reinforces the library’s mission to connect literacy with everyday life.
“The Highland Farmers Market isn’t just about buying produce—it’s about building community,” said CFMC Founder Alexander Vallejos. “We’re excited to see this become a weekly tradition where local farmers, small businesses, and families can come together and support one another.”
With spring underway and momentum building, organizers anticipate continued growth as the market becomes a staple weekly event for Highland residents of all ages.
The Highland Farmers Market is free to attend and open to the public.
