I tell you, it ain’t going to do you a bit of good if Jesus decides to come back today. Call yourself preparing for the Corona-virus panoramic outbreak. What you should be preparing for is the Second Coming of the Lord. [Exodus 19]… What you should be doing is putting oil in your lamp… What you should be consumed with is your pursuit of the kingdom of God; seeking above all, the rule and reign of Jesus Christ in your life. Why? Because death can come to us suddenly and we should always be ready to meet the Lord when that time comes. Preparing for the Corona-virus panoramic outbreak; futile, futile, futile, all futile!
This is brought out in [Luke 12:16-21] the Parable of the Rich Fool – “And he told them this parable: The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.” You better know that you know. Call yourself preparing for the Corona-virus panoramic outbreak. Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher; all is vanity [Ecclesiastes 1:16-2:26].
Five times in Amos 4 God says that he had done specific things in the lives of his people to turn them back to himself. And five times it says, “Yet they did not return to Him.” Each of these things God had done to get their attention could be explained as natural events with no divine cause. Israel failed to prepare to meet him. That is what we must not do. We must wake up and stop looking at our lives like secular, scientific, western naturalists. God is doing things in our lives which are gracious providential messages to return to him and trust him. So let us draw from Amos prophecy and prepare for the Second Coming of the Lord! As we are reminded that He came to Sodom and Gomorrah when the people did not expect Him. He came in the days of Noah when they didn’t think He would come. I tell you, the handwriting is on the wall. Something is about to take place. Prophecy is being fulfilled on every hand. Wake up! “Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps alight.” [Luke 12:35-40].
Now even as it begins to happen, God is faithful, and His Word says that someone will see [Ezekiel 33:3] the sword coming upon the land, and this someone is commanded to give warning or indeed lose his own life also!” Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among you. [Jeremiah 6: 18]. The trumpet is sounding, who will hear?
“I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver me from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover me with his pinions, and under his wings I will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. I will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day/” [Psalms 91:1-16].
“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.” [Deuteronomy 30:19-20].
