Outside agencies recognize county’s fiscal responsibility
The County of Riverside received two recent awards recognizing the county’s commitment to the highest principles in budget and purchasing practices.
“Being recognized by outside leading agencies in the fields of public finance and procurement validates the county’s tireless work towards being fiscally responsible stewards of taxpayer’s money,” said County Executive Officer George Johnson.
Last month, the county was honored with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Adopted Budget. Evaluated by the Government Finance Officers Association, the county’s budget documents received either a proficient or outstanding evaluation in 25 key areas – including policy, financial planning, operations guidance and communications.
This is the fourth year in a row the county received the award. New this year, the county received extra acclaim for including special performance measures in the budget documents. These special performance measures were incorporated into the budget as part of the county’s performance project with consultant KPMG.
Earlier this month, the county was awarded with an Achievement of Excellence in Procurement for demonstrating innovation, productivity and leadership in purchasing practices. The County of Riverside was one of 42 counties nationwide to receive the award by the National Procurement Institute.
