Help Deserving Local Students Receive College Scholarships

SBCSA PhotoYou can help local high school graduates earn college scholarships by volunteering with the San Bernardino Community Scholarship Association.

Every year, individuals and community groups donate thousands of dollars in scholarships to deserving high school seniors. Federal tax law requires that someone outside the donor group help select the scholarship recipients. In order to comply with the law and make sure every scholarship is awarded, the Scholarship Association needs community members to volunteer their time to interview students or review student essays.

There are no qualifications to participate, just a willingness to assist the San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) and the Scholarship Association in helping deserving students earn a college degree.

Scholarship interviews will be held in March and April 2019. If you would like to volunteer or start your own scholarship, please call Communications/Community Relations Department secretary Susan Zavala at (909) 381-1250 to find a day and time that fits your schedule.
