League Of Women Voters® Of San Bernardino Area
P.O. Box 3394, San Bernardino, CA 92413
January 23, 2019 Since 1975, the League of Women Voters of the San Bernardino Area has honored more than 750 individuals and more recently, groups of citizens, who have enhanced the quality of life in their communities.
Once again, the League is reaching out to the community seeking nominations of those who are true “Citizens of Achievement.” The League will honor those chosen at an Award Reception on Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 PM at the lovely East Valley Water District Headquarters located at 31111 Greenspot Road in Highland, CA.
Our focus is on individuals and groups of volunteers in the greater San Bernardino area, from Fontana to Yucaipa and the Riverside/San Bernardino County line to the mountain communities, who have made a difference in the lives of others whether in the neighborhoods they live, the institutions that serve us, or the environment we cherish. We also want to recognize volunteers who make the community a better place through their involvement in various other civic and cultural activities.
A nomination form is enclosed but we also have added online submission at https://my.lwv.org/california/san-bernardino-area/citizens-achievement-nomination-form. Please provide as much information as you can to assist a committee comprised of League past presidents in selecting the recipients. The information you provide will be printed in the event program should your nominee be selected. The deadline for nominations is February 22. Those chosen as “Citizens of Achievement” will be notified and invited to the Award Reception with their friends and families who will want to share this special day. Please make certain your nominee or a representative will be able to attend the reception.
If you know of others who may wish to nominate a “Citizens of Achievement,” please reach out to them. Should you have any questions, please call (909) 518-7000 or (909) 793-6229 or email Leagueof WomenVoters.SB@gmail.com .

Please attach no more than one page that describes why the nominee is worthy of recognition as a Citizen of Achievement. Focus on the contributions made that have improved the quality of life in our community as a volunteer. Recipients of this award more than ten years ago that are contributing to the community in an entirely different way may also be nominated. A full list of recipients since 1975 is available at https://my.lwv.org/california/san-bernardino-area/citizens-achievement-recipients.
Please tell us:
Who has benefited from this contribution and in what way?
How this person has improved the quality of life in our community?
Whether contributions are ongoing or a single transformative event or idea?
Personal qualities of this individual
Any obstacles this person has overcome
Whether the nominee or a representative can attend the reception on Sunday, April 28.
Remember that in most cases the Selection Committee (Past Presidents of the League) does not know the nominee, so please give us enough information for evaluating that person. We will also use it to write about those who have been selected as Citizens of Achievement for the program booklet.
Nominations are due by FEBRUARY 22. We encourage online nominations at https://my.lwv.org/california/san-bernardino-area/citizens-achievement-nomination-form but also they can be emailed to LeagueofWomenVoters.SB@gmail.com or mailed to LWVSB, PO Box 3394, San Bernardino, CA 92413
