Inland Empire NCNW Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary With Legacy Gala
Featuring Keynote Speaker, Dr. Paulette Brown-Hinds
Rialto (March 2018) – In late 1967 a group of women gathered in the City of Rialto to learn more about a national service organization founded by Dr. Mary Mcleod Bethune. Inspired by the organization’s call to serve these women, a few months later, organized to form the Inland Empire Section of National Council of Negro Women, Inc., (IE NCNW).
Fifty years later, the IE NCNW remains active, with its service focused on supporting and empowering youth, women, and families. Founding members Laura Goodly and Lois Carson still participate.
On Saturday, May 5, 2018, the IE NCNW will celebrate its 50th Anniversary, themed “Legacy,” at the Sierra Lakes Golf Club in Fontana, CA. The evening affair, starting at 5:30 PM, will feature Keynote Speaker Paulette Brown-Hinds, Ph.D., publisher of the Black Voice News and founder of Voice Media Ventures, a strategic media and content creation firm. Wearing many hats in service to our communities, Dr. Brown-Hinds recently was appointed to the Board of Directors for the James Irvine Foundation that, since 1937, has awarded grant dollars exceeding $1.76 billion to nonprofits working throughout California.
During the gala the President’s Awards will be presented IE NCNW Associate Life Members: Alton Garrett, Jr., founder of Garrett Management Group, LLC.; Artist Gilbert, founder of A. Gilbert & Associates; and Reginald Webb, founder and CEO of Webb Family Enterprises, Inc.
Three dynamic female youth leaders also will be recognized during the evening’s program. IE NCNW is accepting nominations now through March 19th. Nominees must be between the ages of 16 and 30 and reside within the Inland Empire.
