Seventh Annual United Against Hate Week Kicks Off as Partners LA vs Hate, CA Civil Rights Department, Stop The Hate, and Dozens of Local Government and Community Partners Issue a Call for Solidarity

LOS ANGELES – LA vs Hate, the county’s anti-hate program, will host a press conference for the launch of United Against Hate Week, welcoming coalition partners Not in Our Town, CA vs Hate, and Stop the Hate. Partners, activists, organizations, schools, and communities will join the coalition to rally together and spread messages of hope, action, and vigilance in the fight against hate.

United Against Hate Week (UAHW) is a call for local civic action to stop the hate, discrimination, and implicit biases that negatively impact our diverse communities, neighborhoods, and cities. This year, UAHW will take place across the country between September 21 and 27, where residents, community organizations, and government agencies band together and take action to stop the hate that threatens our communities. Recent statistics underscore the alarming trend of hate crimes in California. Statewide, reported hate crimes have nearly doubled from 1,015 in 2019 to 1,970 in 2023. Reported hate crimes in Los Angeles County also remain elevated, increasing 63% from 405 in 2019 to 664 in 2023.

The press conference will feature remarks from LA County and statewide leaders, as well as elected officials and community partners. Speakers will be available for one-on-one interviews at the conclusion of the press conference.
