Inland Empire Community Comes Together to Honor Local Moms During Mother’s Day Drive-Thru Food Distribution

(Riverside, CA – May 10, 2022) – In honor of Mother’s Day, Feeding America Riverside | San Bernardino (FARSB) received generous food donations from Stater Bros., First Fruits, and Cowboy Burgers & BBQ in support of a local food distribution event for over 200 Inland Empire families, many of whom are facing pressures to keep food on the table amid increasing inflation.

“Everything is so expensive and has gone up. It’s me and my mom, and when we go to the grocery store, she tells me all the time it wasn’t like this before. Sometimes it’s difficult,” said Ashley, who attended the food distribution, “Everything here is so well organized; I love it.”

Each recipient received a nutritious, shelf-stable food box, a bag of fresh apples courtesy of a partnership with Stater Bros. and First Fruits, a grocery gift card, and handmade brownies donated by Riverside restaurant, Cowboy Burgers & BBQ. These items were loaded into recipients’ vehicles on behalf of local volunteers, some of which consisted of Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Hewitt and his staff.

“On Mother’s Day, we don’t want to see any mothers go short change,” said Hewitt, “This is the act of giving. Regardless of inflation or a recession, if we all stick together and carry each other through this, we can come out stronger.”

While the food distribution was centered around Mother’s Day, FARSB representatives encourage the public to explore the food bank’s additional services on how to receive food assistance. For more information, visit www.FeedingIE.org.
