Roberto Ponciano Charged With Colton Murder August 6, 2020
CASE SYNOPSIS
On Saturday, July 25, 2020, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, and Colton Police Department responded to a traffic collision in the area of Grand and Valley in the city of Colton. An investigation was completed by the sheriff’s department. On Tuesday, July 28, 2020, Roberto Ponciano was arrested for his involvement in this incident.
After reviewing this case, our office has charged Ponciano with violating the following sections of the California Penal Code:
Penal Code Section 187(a) – Murder
Murder is the unlawful killing of a human being, or a fetus, with malice aforethought.
Penal Code Section 664/187(a) – Attempted Murder
Every person who attempts to commit any crime, but fails, or is prevented or intercepted in its perpetration, shall be punished where no provision is made by law for the punishment of those attempts.
