Homicide Detectives seeking info regarding the identities of the suspects involved in a fatal shooting in Hesperia

DATE/TIME: Monday, December 2, 2019 6:29 p.m.

INCIDENT: Murder Investigation

LOCATION: Smoke Tree Street/First Avenue, Hesperia

VICTIM: James Curtis Hampton, 39 years old, resident of Hesperia

SUSPECT(S): Two unidentified males

#1: light skinned black male, 5’8”

#2: dark skinned Hispanic male, 5’8”-5’10”

SUSPECT VEHICLES: Black pick-up truck, unknown make/model Gold colored sedan, unknown make/model

SUMMARY:

On Monday, December 2, 2019 at 6:29 p.m. deputies responded to calls of a disturbance and shots fired on Smoke Tree Street. Deputies arrived and found the victim, identified as Curtis Hampton, unresponsive in the roadway. Medical personnel pronounced Hampton deceased at the scene.

Homicide Detectives responded to conduct the investigation.

Detectives determined two armed suspects confronted Hampton at his residence on Smoke Tree Street and a fight ensued. Hampton ran into the street where he was shot by one of the suspects. An acquaintance of Hampton’s was near the residence and heard the fight. He went to check on Hampton and was confronted by one of the suspects who struck him with a gun. The suspects fled in a black truck and a gold colored sedan.

Detectives believe the suspects intended to rob Hampton of money and/or drugs. It is unknown at this time if any property was taken.
