‘Covenant House California’s Executive Sleep Out, Presented by Delta Air Lines Raises Funds and Awareness for Youth Experiencing Homelessness on November 21, 2019
WHAT: On November 21, over 200 Los Angeles executives will sleep on the streets during Covenant House California’s Los Angeles Sleep Out: Executive Edition, with Delta Air Lines leading the way as the presenting sponsor. This National Homeless Youth Awareness Month, Covenant House California’s annual event and fundraiser aims to raise awareness while making an immediate and lasting impact on the lives of the homeless youth who are supported by Covenant House California. One-third of all youth experiencing homelessness in the United States are in California – 6,000 of which are in Los Angeles County. Over 50% of the youth living at Covenant House have aged out of the foster system and found themselves without a system of support. This year’s Sleep Out: Executive Edition will not only shed light on youth homelessness in the greater Los Angeles area, but it will also raise essential funds needed to ensure the safety for the thousands of youth who will seek shelter, food, clothing, education, and, most importantly, love from Covenant House California. By participating in this year’s Sleep Out, executives will leave their comfort zones to learn more about the issue and be uncomfortable as an act of love and advocacy.
Covenant House California serves over 4,700 youth each year. The Los Angeles non-profit works year-round to ensure that each young person who comes through their doors is provided with a safe environment and the opportunity to achieve their dreams. As a result of the work being done at Covenant House California, over 92% of youth exit the Covenant House California transitional programs and live independently, permanently.
