I tell you, if God allowed you to see the New Year – 2021, you should be shouting to the rooftop, so much so, that people begin to talk about you, saying, “Girl do you see her? She has gone plum crazy. Jumping up and down, smiling and yelling… Second Chance! Second Chance! Second Chance! Thank You Jesus! Second chance! What’s wrong with her? Not realizing that it is only by the grace of God that they too are here. 2021 – God’s Gift of a Second Chance. Even though we didn’t deserve it, God, being rich in mercy, and His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ. Redeemed by the Lord! [Ephesians 2:1-5]. Hallelujah! Second Chance! Second Chance! Second Chance! Thank You Jesus!
Just like He gave Abraham and Moses, David and the Apostle Peter, Mark, Jonah, the Ninevites, and many more in the Bible second chances, if you are alive, God has given you a second chance, to get it right. Don’t blow it! It’s time to get serious concerning your walk with the Lord. Second Chance! “Wake up, put off the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. The long night is fading away, the sun is peeking over the eastern horizon, Jesus is coming soon!
I tell you, whether this is the second chance or the two-thousandth chance, accept the grace that God has granted. Receive the forgiveness, embrace the welcome, and throw your life into the life of Christ. Open your eyes to the Second Chance you have been given, and understand the present time. [Romans 13:11]. Wake up, and Repent!
For even now, declares the Lord, “Return to me with all your heart, and with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart. Return to the Lord your God, for I am gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.” [Joel 2:11-14].
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” – [Romans 6:1-2]. Do not take the Lord’s grace for granted by continuing with the same attitudes, desires and carnal actions you first came to Him with. Instead, let that grace transform you bit by bit every day. God is patient in giving us Second Chances—and not just one, but continual second chances. Micah 7:18 says, “Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.” 2021 – The Year of Renewal Commitment.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. [Romans 12:1].
You know, I read a poem some years ago, and I have long forgotten where I read it. But, I have not forgotten the words: “Life is a book in volumes─ Three ─The past, the present and the yet to be. The first is written and laid away. The second we are writing everyday. The next and last of these volumes three is hidden from sight ─ God holds the key.” 2021─ Let’s get it right! God’s Gift of a Second Chance!
May this year be one of great spiritual growth for you. May it be one where you learn the name of Jesus, and never fail to see Him for Who He is, and what He is doing. May it be one where God does new things in your life, not just on one day, but on all of them. And may it be one where you resolve to live with hope, and with love for God. Christ’s blessing be upon you in 2021, and always. Amen.
